As part of James Lister and Sons Limited, we began in Tipton in 1874 as an ironmonger's store.  Over 140 years later we still supply tools and related products to Midlands customers from a base of six dedicated branches/distribution centres.  We have built up extensive client support experience and product sourcing capabilities to service customers' tooling and consumable requirements in all industrial, commercial and tertiary sectors.

Now a sixth generation family business, we are intensely proud of our heritage and totally focused on meetings customers' needs.  

Our overriding focus is to be "easy to do business with".

Rapid response

From our quick answer to telephone calls, and our rapid quotations, to our same day despatch for orders before 3pm, everything is aimed at providing the best possible service.  We hold extensive stocks at all branches, backed up by our central storage at Smethwick.  Internal branch transfers occur once or twice per day to ensure that supplies can be delivered out to customers from their local branch as needed.

Dedicated experts

We have significant in-house expertise in everything from cutting tools to lubricants and hygiene products but can also call on the manufacturers' experts  at a moment's notice and will often bring them out to see you to identify the best possible solution to your requirements.

Local support

Rather than have one central call and distribution centre we believe that being local brings great advantages, both in terms of speed of response and personal relationships with our customers.  At each branch we have a branch manager, with many years of supplies experience, working with a customer service and warehouse/despatch team.  Our delivery drivers and external sales representatives are based locally, but also work in harmony across the business to ensure the smoothest and seamless support.
